We’re settling in - Jodi
We’ve been really busy this past week. We started out staying for the first 3 nights at one of our favorite hotels with a pool club - Tropical Suites and Merén Pool Club & Restaurant. It was nice to feel pampered for a few days. Then we moved into a tiny efficiency apartment made out of a shipping container. It’s been tight for Dean, Shady and I. It’s motivated us to get our plan working!!!
Yesterday we bought a sailboat! We’ll take possession of it tomorrow. But it needs a lot of clean up so we probably won’t fully move in until our rental is up in the efficiency. The boat is perfect - 1979 31’ Seacraft Mariah. It’s know as a slow moving tank of a sailboat, which we are completely happy with.
As a compliment to the boat purchase, coincidentally, the region was hosting 4 days of the class to get a 12 m watercraft license. We did it this morning and now have our first official Panamanian Identification documents!
Other things we did this week - on Saturday mornings there’s yoga at The Floating Bar, which I went to and this Saturday Dean’s coming too. Great group of people who do yoga then brunch at the bar. The barge has some movement so the few standing poses we did - flowing warrior 1 to warrior 2 - was a challenge. But it was super cool to be on the water, along the mangroves.
On Sunday we went to Spanish Language “conversation class” during happy hour at BesameBocas. We’re so thrilled to be meeting people who are engaged in this community and willing to include us!!!
Dean got a new pillow.
Last Friday we planted trees with Planet Rehab and Bocas Rainforest Reforestation Initiative - BRRI.
We are all battling traveler’s tummy…including Shady. I’ve never experienced it here before, but since I witnessed how things ran thru Dean, I’m staying ahead of it with Imodium.
Tomorrow we’re going to look at two homes/properties! We’ve seen the listings online and talked to a couple people who are familiar with them so hopefully the one we really like checks out and we can make an offer!
I’ll post an update tomorrow when we’re back.
