I'm having emotions that range from positive vibrating excitement to stomach churning middle-of-the-night anxiety - Jodi

The last week and a half has been pretty wild. After YEARS this move is really happening and I'm having emotions that range from positive vibrating excitement to stomach churning middle-of-the-night anxiety.

Last week we moved everything we're taking with us into a 5x15 storage unit. I know I'm probably over-organizing, but I've assigned and labeled every box and loose item with a number. Our shipper is definitely on "Bocas time" and his suggestion was to simply use a piece of blue tape to identify all our things. I'm not that chill...yet. We are required to have a manifest for customs, but I also wanted to make sure everything arrived as expected. We also have things organized and labeled in two groups - one for when we live on the sailboat, potentially within weeks of arriving; and one for when we move into our forever home. The later group will stay in the shipper's storage warehouse in BdT until we're ready. (Let me reassure everyone that I've thoroughly researched this shipper and gotten recommendations from friends in Bocas for him. I've spoken to and messaged with him directly several times. He is trustworthy and very much part of the BdT community. Bill and Florida 2 Bocas Shared Containers is a prime example of why we love this place.)

On move day, we'll be loading the stuff from the storage unit, along with our 2 suitcases, 2 roller bags, and the dog crate, into a Uhaul and start our drive to Florida. We're taking 4 days to drive and 1 day to unload the truck into Bill's warehouse before we relax in Miami for 36 hours, waiting to fly out.

This past weekend I also took time to fly out to Northampton, MA to visit Spencer and her partner Mickey. They moved into a new place in the spring, which I had not seen. It's super cute and they're adulting! We had a positively fantastic time - chatting, chilling, eating, shopping, playing, drinking. Although I was weepy when we said our goodbyes, I can rest easy that they are well-settled and launched! Mickey's getting his passport this week and Spenci is looking at hotels in Panama City for a few nights on their trip down this winter.

Also this weekend we had the first goodbye party. My barn friends and family really showed up for me - over 45 people from my years of horse riding life were there! I'm truly grateful for every one of these people. I appreciate so much how they've been there for me and are supporting my next wild dream.

This week we are wrapping up paperwork for our residency, prepping all the marketing and business assets for Orchard House's hand-over to the new owners, and packing the remaining few boxes.
